United We Sand

In March of 2009, the Fargo, ND and Moorhead, Minnesota experienced record flooding of the Red River. North Dakota also saw flooding at unprecedented levels statewide. During this crisis, communities came together as one, young and old, all working together to fill over 3 million sandbags in an attempt to save the city from widespread flooding. The one really unifying thing that I saw was that all of the people who had participated in a sandbagging line had this big residual sand spot on the front of their shirts, I wanted to create something that could capture the spirit of people coming together, working as one for a common good. A true community. Even if you weren't able to be there in person, working in a sandbag line, you can support the spirit that this community showed by getting one of your own "United We Sand" items.

Now you can show your support at two different sites:

Old Lutheran

Old Lutheran is a local company who has graciously agreed to provide the "United We Sand" shirts, sweatshirts and Decals. Also, 50% of the purchase price of merchandise will be donated to the Impact Give Back - Red River Valley Flood Fight (a program of the Dakota Medical Foundation) which is matching the first $25,000 in donations. So with a $12 shirt, after matching funds, the entire purchase price will be donated. Because this is a local business, we have much better margins and can in turn donate a higher percentage back to the community.

Products can be picked up in person at:

Old Lutheran
1408 1st Avenue North
Moorhead, MN 56560

In addition I have other designs as well including; "Proud to be a Bag Lady," "Thanks to Area Students, It's In The Bag!" and "Never Give Up." CafePress also carries a wide variety of items from Baby Bibs to Dog Shirts, there are hundreds of products to choose from. Get yours here: http://www.cafepress.com/fargoflood09

CafePress is an online order fullfilment house which prints items on demand and ships directly to you. Items typically ship in 24 hours from time of order and can be delivered in only a few short days.

d30% of profits will be donated to the Impact Give Back - Red River Valley Flood Fight (a program of the Dakota Medical Foundation) which is matching the first $25,000 in donations. You can find out more and make a direct donation by visiting their site at: http://www.impactgiveback.org/general/index.aspx. The foundation is supporting three organizations which have stepped up in this time of need; The American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and FirstLink.

Again, Thank you to everyone for your support, thoughts, prayers, and hard work!
